Just posting the fix for this issue in case any others run into the same issue -
The amikit installer, (like some other Windows apps I have come across, eg. Micro$haft account, Winows store) is relying on the windows 10 internet connection probe, that I had disabled/blocked. This is because said probe is basically phoning-home to micro$shaft, the contents of the probe packet arent just a simple TDP/IP ping. It containts info about your machine etc, so in a nutshell they (micro$shaft) can f**k right off).
The upshot is that said app and Amikit is relying on Windows to tell it, that there is an internet connection. Which never work beccause of the above block. I have made the suggesting to Jan that the installer should JUST try and connect to his activation server inetad of relying on windows internet connection probe.
So the fix in this instance was to the reset windows 10 network settings (settings>network & internet - network reset) which temporarily allows windows to think its connected to the net. Thus Amikit then does it thing. Not annoying at all.... |
