Hi,

Amikit on MAC

I am not sure what I am doing wrong but i keep getting CD Failed error when starting Amikit for the first time.

I have Amiga OS 4.1 FE
I have copied the Kickstart-A1200-40.68.rom >> amikit/rom/kick.rom from the ISO
I attach the ClassicInstallCD-53.71.iso
Press "Start"

It starts up and I get the error CD failed returncode 20

Not sure what I am doing wrong as from the documentation it should work. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Anyone...at all ? I tried using Amiga Forever. Same results. It's begin to look like Amikit is not compatible with Big Sur.

Hi bobandted and welcome to the forum!

First of all, thank you for your purchase. I am using AmiKit here on Big Sur so that is not a problem for sure.

Please make sure none of your Mac drives are named SYS. Otherwise AmiKit might get confused as in Amiga world this is an alias for boot drive.

Or perhaps, before you start AmiKit, in WinUAE CD/HardDrives section turn off the following options: "Add PC drives at startup", "Include removable drives" and "include network drives".

Hope it helps? Please let me know.

Btw. I recommend installing AmiKit with Amiga Forever rather than OS4.1CD which contains older OS3.1.

Hi,

I absolutely cannot get it to work The rom is found, that is for sure. But no matter how much I try different options I always get the same error. I tried putting the ISO in different locations with no result.

For for testing I mount the floppy drive and was able to boot the floppy. So that works. So I doubt its a path problem.

But attaching one of the ISO images and starting I always get the CD Failed error

Looking at your screenshot, I see the error is happening while installing the Picasso96 archive. Is it a new Picasso96 v3+ from iComp? If so, can you delete the archive and let AmiKit to download the default Picasso96 v2.0 from internet? Perhaps iComp changed the structure of their archive in one of their latest updates and it's not compatible with AmiKit anymore.

Thanks a lot!!!!!! That was the problem. I was banging my head on the table trying to solve that. But at least I learnt something new.

The downloaded Picasso96 archive was the issue. I should of just left it alone

Can you please tell me which version of Picasso96 it was? I mean the one that did not work with AmiKit.

I downloaded this one:

https://aminet.net/package/driver/video/Picasso96

version 2.0

But..... I just took a closer look at the file I downloaded and it appears to be corrupted as I cannot read the contents. So it could well be that was the issue.....
