umm sorry.. I meant in AmiKit not winuae... the resolutions I can choose from in AmiKit screenmode prefs are 800x600-1024/768 - 1152x864 - 1280x1024 - and 1600x1200 ... I would like to run it in native 1280x800.

Kann jemand helfen..?

Hi and welcome to AmiKit forum.

Well, all what "Screenmode AmiKit" do is to adjust a position of desktop icons according to selected screenmode. Some windows are centered as well. Not all the screenmodes are included, that's true.
However if you want to use eg. 1280x800, use the "Screenmode AmiKit" program FIRST and set some larger screenmode, let's say 1280x1024. The icons and windows get adjusted to this screenmode. Then reboot and use classic Screenmode preferences program located in Amikit:Prefs/Screenmode and select your desired 1280x800 and reboot again. Icons will need only slight adjustment then, you know.

well, the blue rotating arrow gets hidden under the taskbar then... you can disable it completely or change its position, please refer to Tips&Tricks section of AmiKit homepage.

Thank you for the quick answer. I still can't get it to go, though... :-(
after changing the resolution in 'Screenmode Amikit' FIRST and rebooting, AmiKit gets stuck at the cat-boot screen and does nothing... I therefor can't change the resolution for the workbench because I can't get in. I had to reinstall AmiKit and tried it again, same result. Am I missing something..? Odd, it works in 1024x768 but looks choppy because the native resolution on the Notebook is 1280x800...

The problem is that IPrefs sometimes crashes during the startup and the message about the crash is displayed behind the boot picture. So it looks like the AmiKit is still booting. Try to press Esc to quit the boot screen and you would be able to see what is happening behind the picture.
Or reset AmiKit and try to boot again.

You may also try to disable cat-boot screen completely, edit s:startup-sequence and disable this line:
SYS:Utilities/Expansion/ShowAmiga96/Bin/ShowAmiga96_Rev239C18
by putting ; in front of it, so it will look like this
;SYS:Utilities/Expansion/ShowAmiga96/Bin/ShowAmiga96_Rev239C18

Anyway, 1280x800 works here without any problems. If 1024x768 works for you, then use classic SYS:Prefs/Screenmode to switch to your desired screenmode. It should work, just watch out for IPrefs crash.

The cat-boot picture is not adjusted for 1280x800. This means it opens the picture in other screenmode. Then several screenmode switches must be done when booting (to switch to DOpus registration screen, then back to boot-screen and then back to desktop again..). This slows down the boot process. To avoid this, disable boot-picture as described above or adjust the boot-picture to your 1280x800 screenmode in AmiKit:Prefs/ShowAmiga96_Prefs
