Hi. Newbie here with Amikit thought I've used WinUAE for years. Just wondering if Amikit is the best solution for playing games on the Raspberry Pi 400. I've just downloaded and installed the latest Amikit for Raspberry Pi 400 and installed using my Amiga OS 3.9 ISO. I downloaded and installed the latest WHDLoad but the games are just unplayable. It is really slow. Mouse has a horrendous delay as well.

On closer inspection it appears to be running in a 4K resolution. My TV is displaying the 1920x1080 workbench at 3840x2160 at 30p

Will this be the issue?

EDIT: I've just tried it on my 1080p Samsung monitor and it runs much better. How can I force the resolution to 1080p on my 4K TV?

It's okay I figured it out now. I changed the resolution on the linux os and it is working well now.

Hello! I am glad you solved it yourself - as I would never guessed it was because of the resolution.

Btw. if you experience a sound problem - a lag for example - try to experiment with Push vs Pull option in Amiberry audio settings. Also decrease/increase the buffer size. But keep in mind that the settings cannot be changed on the fly and it has to be set before the emulation is started.

Also, in Amiberry display settings, you might want to experiment with the Chipset vs 50 vs 60hz settings.

Btw. WHDLoad will be updated in the next AmiKit update.

If you need further assistance, feel free to post here or on Discord chat server.

Thank you,
Jan

Hi Jan

Thanks for your reply. I already upgraded to the latest WHDLoad but will of course be keeping Amikit up to date as well. Thanks for the tips!

The only reason I knew it could be the resolution was because I had the exact same problem with my RetroPie installation. All games were running terrible till I realised I was using a 4K TV and the resolution was 4K. Once I reduced that to 720p the games ran great.

Anyway I have a new issue I hope you can help with. I was installing some WHDLoad games last night and a Linux update box appeared with a whole load of apps to update. I thought okay fine and let it continue. I shutdown the raspberry pi as usual and when I booted it back up it just went straight into the Linux side. The Amikit icon no longer seems to load or do anything. I tried to run the Amiberry executable and that too doesn't open. Maybe it updated Amiberry and now it has changed permissions or something? I'm not too familiar with Linux I'm afraid. I did right click the the Amiberry folder and executable icon and under the permissions tab it does say the owner is 'Amikit for Raspberry Pi (amikit)'. Any ideas?

Do you remember what was your AmiKit version before updating Linux?
It might be the following issue that was fixed in the latest AmiKit v11.8.2 update:

Hey Steve, I am glad to hear that!

AmiKit 11.8.2 is currently the latest one - providing your purchase includes the Update&Support subscription.
