I noticed there is a problem with 1280x800 screen mode resolution in AmiKit. While the screen mode works fine with Sony VAIO, the very same screen mode might not work with other 1280x800 wide screen laptops. The reason is unknown but there is a way how to fix it.
1) If you installed AmiKit 1.2.0 and selected 1280x800 screen mode and AmiKit does not start, then please uninstall AmiKit and install it again. But this time select 1024x768 resolution. AmiKit should start without any problem. Then run "AmiKit:Prefs/Screenmode AmiKit" program and select "1280x800" BUT DO NOT REBOOT!
Before you reboot please run "AmiKit:Prefs/ScreenMode" program and select "uaegfx:1280x800 32bit". Then SAVE the settings, wait for few seconds and reboot AmiKit. Now the AmiKit 1.2.0 should work in wide screen mode on your computer.
2) If you already customized your AmiKit and you do not want to re-install it (of course) and your AmiKit refuses to start after you selected 1280x800 screen mode in "AmiKit:Prefs/Screenmode AmiKit" program, then read this how to fix it:
Start your AmiKit and hold down both mouse buttons. Then select to boot without a startup-sequence and type following commands:
assign env: ram:
execute "sys:prefs/screenmode amikit"
A screenmode requester will popup. Select 1024x768 screen mode, then the program will probably complain about muimaster.library and the system crashes (!) but don't bother becuause your new screen mode setting is saved anyway. Once your AmiKit boot again please start "AmiKit:Prefs/Screenmode AmiKit", select 1280x800 but do NOT reboot. Then run "AmiKit:Prefs/Screenmode" and select "uaegfx:1280x800 32bit". Then SAVE the settings, wait for few seconds and reboot AmiKit. Now the AmiKit 1.2.0 should work in wide screen mode on your computer.
