Amikit Internet Problem

I just bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite running Windows 8, and bought the latest Amiga Forever edition (v.2013.0.3.0), from which I downloaded the latest Amikit edition (v.1.6.0). They are running under the latest WinUAE version (2.4.0).

The package boots and runs just fine, and I configured it easily to match my screenmode. I can run programs normally on the virtual Amiga. The only problem is that it won't access the internet. NetSurf says "Couldn't resolve host". AWeb says "Error while retrieving URL. Cannot resolve host name". IBrowse says "Host lookup failed. No DNS Entry found". I have tried all sorts of websites and URLs, but the error appears immediately, not even after a delay.

I checked that bsdsocket was ticket in the Expansions menu of WinUAE. I checked that the bsdsocket.lib was present in the Amiga, and it seems to be OK.

Worst of all, my 4-yr old Vaio runs Amikit just fine, and it can get access to the Internet without any problem.

Any idea what's going on??

Hmmm, that is strange. I assume no Live Update window appeared upon AmiKit start so AmiKit won't updated itself to v1.6.5.

Please run AmigaForever's Software Director and update WinUAE because v2.4.0 is not the latest one.

That worked! Upgraded to WinUAE 2.6 and suddenly everything came right. AmiKit immediately updated itself to 1.6.5 as you predicted.

Many thanks indeed.
