OK, Installed AF2005 (online version...my CD has yet to arrive)
Installed AMIKIT...
Went to start, selected English, then tried to select AF Online as a source, and it tells me "Not a valid source for Amiga OS"

Any ideas? I unistalled both AmiKit, and AF2005 and re-installed using default directories, thinking that was the issue, still no go.

hmmm... try to remove the name of your Win HDD partition, so the partition is named C: only. Install AF2005online and try to run AmiKit again.

If it doesn't help, here's another hint: once you have installed AF2005online, run the AmiKit launcher only (the Win GUI with those 5 buttons). Do NOT press "Run AmiKit". Once the GUI is started and AF2005 is found on your system, a file containing a path to the system files of AF2005 is created inside the AmiKit directory. Check this file (AmiKit\Prefs\Env-Archive\AFOnlinePath) whether it contains the correct path. If not, fix it and press "Run AmiKit" button... I hope it helps.

I'm afraid some of that doesn't nake much sense.
I ran the AmiKit launcher, and made sure it knew where to find AF2005.
However, it still fails. I checked the AFOnlinePath, and it is correct also.

This is exactly what it contains:

:Documents and Settings/All Users/Documents/Amiga Files/System

Ok, the drive letter is missed. What is the name of your C: Drive ??
Only for testing you can add this name (like Windows) AFTER the AmiKit launcher has started. That means ..

Start the AmiKit Launcher (GUI) and then correct the AFOnlinePath file for example to
Windows:Documents ...

Then press "Run AmiKit" ...

please tell me if it works or not. Then we have to correct the AmiKit launcher.

Bingo!
I had to re-name my C: drive to something. It wasn't named, ie it was a blank name. I can see where this is going to cause some issues.

Once I renamed it, I checked the AFOnline file, and it corrected itself.
Here goes nothing! I'll let you know how it goes from here.

Sweet! It worked, and rather quickly to my suprise.

One complaint so far. It mapped all my windows drives.
Not a major big deal, but I prefer not to map the windows drives, since I have a ton of network drives, so I know that eats up memory.

Any way to fix this?

You can start WinUAE manually and load the AmiKit configuration (AmiKit/Configurations/AmiKit_v1.UAE) and then disable "Add Network drives" in the "Hard Drives" section. Do not forget to save the changed config :-)

ATTENTION! The bug is confirmed...

When you plan to install AmiKit using AF2005-Online Edition as a source of system files, please give a name to your Windows C: drive (eg. WinXP or whatever). Once the AmiKit is successfully installed, you can remove this name. :)

I do not know what you mean? Do you have a problem with downloading the AmiKit installer? It works from here... maybe some temporary problem only...
