Sadly when I try to install AmiKit 1.5.0 RC3 (but I get the same errors with AmiKit 1.4.0 too) I get this strange error at startup:

Here the log of the WinUAE crash (in italian)

-------------------------------------------------
WINUAE ha provocato un errore di pagina non valida nel
modulo WINUAE.EXE in 0167:00404c76.

I try to change the WinUAE file in the AmiKit folder with an older release taken from Amiga Forever 6.0

(no crash at this time) but now the installation procedure seems locked

(I change the AmiKit version of UAE with the new one of Amiga Forever, version 0.8.25 Beta 1)

But I have only an AmigaDOS shell opened and nothing more :-/

Aniway, The latest version of WinUAE MUST work on Windows 98 (AFAIK hearing the developer of WinUAE it seems that this is the last version for Windows 98)

I'm sure that this version must work well on Win98, I try to use this last version with some ADFs without any problem ...

-Edit-
I try WinUAE 1.4.4, I get a similar error, but this time all the system crash :-/

Ok it seems that I found the problem altroght it didn't help my installation, trying different configurations on WinUAE 1.4.6 (the default one on AmiKit 1.5.0 RC3) the problem is uaescsi.device

If I remove it, AmiKit start ok but without any CD-Rom support, so I can't complete the installation of AmigaOS 3.9

Hope that this can help.

I guess this Windows9x crappy built-in ASPI incompatibility problem.

Either install later ASPI from Adaptec or install FrogAspi (copy the file to same directory as winuae.exe) or install Nero (demo version is fine) and make sure it says "FrogAspi" or "NeroASPI" in Misc-panel.

Ok first test, I download FrogAspi and wnaspi32 from

http://www.frogaspi.org/download/FrogASPI.dll
http://www.frogaspi.org/download/wnaspi32.dll

And copy it on the WinUAE folder, now I can launch AmiKit with uaescsi.device but my DVD don't load AmigaOS 3.9

A popup window say:

"Please insert volume AmigaOS3.9 in any drive"

Check winuaelog.txt for possible errors (log enable checkbox is in misc-panel)

(sorry for late answer, I forgot..)

Remove frogaspi, it does not support Windows 9x (I remembered wrong..)
Include winuaelog.txt, it should list detected devices.
You can also try Adaptec's original ASPI driver, for example: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/ForceASPI.shtml

Ok Tony, I install ForceASPI, it work now after selecting AdaptecASPI from uaescsi.devide checkbox in misc, I must check also Include CD/DVD driver in Hard Drive prefs to make it work correctly.

I can install AmigaOS 3.9 but at the boot I have this error:

Cannot open "uaescsi.device" unit: 0

And then AmiKit show is boot pics but don't boot at all ...

The "Cannot open "uaescsi.device" unit: 0 " message is generated by AmiKit:Devs/DosDrivers/CD0 file. It is not necessary if you enabled "Include CD/DVD drive" option in WinUAE settings. Delete the file or move it to AmiKit:Storage/DosDrivers folder and boot again.
