Simply right-click the file requester and select View by -> Date

Hi,

right clicking i get a small requester with 2 possibilities
" control" and "settings"
"control" seems not to give any date settings possibilitiy
"settings" has only one subitem "MUI" which brings you to the standard MUI preferences.
I don't see where i get a 'date' possibility

Right-click the inner area of the file requester window.

I did see the popup mentioned once ( i think)
However all other times it is either the MUI popup i mentioned before, or a popup:

Newdrawer
Rename
Delete
Comment.

???

I realized the file requester has 3 (!) different pop-up menus depending where you click. Check the following images, the red dot indicates where the right mouse button click was performed.

Click the previews for large image.

Splendid,

Thank you.

Now: is it possible to save the 'date' view as a preference?

Hmmm... I don't think so.
